Details of the Job/Internship

Barclays is hiring a Debt Advisory Lawyer to join their office in Pune. The role is part of the Debt Advisory Legal team within the Corporate Banking Legal division. The position involves providing legal advice and managing legal risks related to corporate and business lending transactions across the UK Corporate Bank and International Corporate Banking. The lawyer will also support product innovation, identify legal and regulatory risks, and ensure compliance with relevant laws and internal policies.

Role and Responsibilities

• Provide legal advice and support on corporate lending transactions.
• Develop and implement best practice legal strategies for risk management and compliance.
• Represent the bank in legal proceedings, including litigation, arbitration, and regulatory investigations.
• Create and review legal documents such as loan agreements, security documents, and financing documents.
• Conduct legal research and analysis on laws and regulations impacting the bank’s operations.
• Develop and deliver training programs on legal and regulatory requirements.
• Identify, communicate, and provide legal advice on applicable laws, rules, and regulations.
• Ensure compliance with internal policies, standards, and controls.
• Manage risk and strengthen controls within areas of responsibility.
• Partner with other business functions and provide advisory support.
• Lead or supervise team members, ensuring continuous improvement and adherence to Barclays’ values and mindset.

Eligibility

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Law.
• Experience in corporate lending, including term loans, revolving credit facilities, and overdrafts.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
• Strong prioritization and multitasking abilities.
• Experience in assessing documentation templates, processes, and providing practical legal solutions.
• Experience in managing projects within defined frameworks, emphasizing commercial management and timely legal deliverables.
