Tata Communications is hiring a Deputy General Manager – Corporate Legal to join their Corporate Legal department at VSB, New Delhi. This individual contributor role also functions as the National Nodal Officer (Nodal Operations) and involves acting as the designated interface between the company and government authorities, regulatory bodies, and law enforcement agencies, with responsibility for regulatory compliance, security, and nodal operations.
Role and Responsibilities
- Act as the National Nodal Officer and designated interface between Tata Communications and government authorities, regulatory bodies, and law enforcement agencies.
- Coordinate national activities relating to security audits, technical inspections, regulatory compliance, cyber security incidents, and reporting.
- Respond to authorised government and agency requests for network information and ensure timely and lawful sharing of subscriber, equipment, and security data.
- Support lawful interception and monitoring processes in accordance with regulatory directives.
- Represent the organisation on cybersecurity and regulatory matters through designated government portals.
- Work closely with legal, technical, and customer management teams to ensure regulatory and technical compliance.
- Provide guidance for rapid response, escalation handling, and proactive risk mitigation for regulatory and security incidents.
- Monitor and analyse regulatory and nodal developments in India, SAARC, and other global markets.
- Interpret legal and regulatory requirements and apply them to business scenarios and policy positions.
- Lead and support cross-functional compliance implementation projects.
- Ensure alignment with evolving digital infrastructure standards, security mandates, and regulatory requirements.
Eligibility
- 10–15 years of work experience in public policy or regulatory and compliance roles in telecom, digital services, or technology sectors, with at least 8–10 years of experience in nodal operations involving government authorities and law enforcement agencies.
- Engineering graduate with an additional qualification in law or management, preferred.
- Exposure to telecom or product regulation, nodal operations, regulatory analysis, reporting compliances, research, and documentation.
- Exposure to major global markets outside India and SAARC is an advantage.
- Strong understanding of Indian telecom regulatory frameworks, security compliances, and network security requirements.
- Demonstrated experience in liaising with government and enforcement agencies.
- High standards of discipline, integrity, and diligence.
- Ability to support nodal requirements on a 24x7 basis and work within specified regulatory SLAs.
- Excellent analytical, drafting, documentation, communication, and stakeholder coordination skills.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks efficiently, including in stressful and crisis situations.
- Knowledge of nodal operations and reporting requirements in global markets including the US, Europe, and Asia Pacific.
