Details of the Job/Internship
IDFC FIRST Bank is hiring a Deputy Legal Counsel with 3–4 years of experience to support its retail banking legal team in Mumbai.
Role and Responsibilities
- Provide legal advice and support to the retail banking division.
- Ensure compliance with applicable laws, regulations, and internal policies.
- Review and negotiate contracts and agreements with vendors and service providers.
- Conduct legal research and analysis to identify risks and recommend mitigations.
- Develop and implement policies and procedures for legal and regulatory compliance.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to resolve legal issues.
- Monitor legal and regulatory changes and communicate updates to stakeholders.
- Conduct training sessions on legal and compliance matters.
- Manage external legal counsel relationships to ensure effective support.
- Prepare and submit legal and compliance reports to senior management.
Eligibility
- Bachelor’s degree in Law; Master’s in Law preferred.
- 3–4 years of relevant legal experience, particularly in retail banking.
- Strong knowledge of retail banking laws and regulations in India.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Effective communication and interpersonal abilities.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Proven ability to manage legal and compliance matters in a fast-paced environment.
- Capability to handle multiple tasks and prioritize effectively.
- Willingness to travel as required.
