The Tax Controversy Management team specializes in managing complex direct tax litigation and advisory matters for high-profile clients, ensuring compliance, risk mitigation, and strategic outcomes.
Details of the Job/Internship
Deloitte is hiring a Deputy Manager to join the Tax Controversy Management Team. The role involves managing end-to-end direct tax litigation processes, handling complex tax matters, coordinating with internal teams and external counsel, and providing strategic advisory support to clients.
Role and Responsibilities
- Draft appeals, submissions, and legal documents for Income Tax, Transfer Pricing, Corporate Tax, and International Tax matters.
- Assist and represent clients before Income Tax Appellate Tribunal, High Courts, and the Supreme Court in coordination with senior or external counsel.
- Manage case files, ensuring they are well-prepared, organized, and safely transported.
- Coordinate with Income Tax Authorities during assessments and other proceedings.
- Research and interpret legal and tax updates relevant to assigned matters.
- Manage client communications, meetings, and deliver structured briefings.
- Monitor litigation calendars, deadlines, and ensure compliance with timelines.
- Draft engagement letters, prepare summaries of services, and ensure timely billing.
- Support knowledge sharing, internal trainings, and mentoring of interns and CA article trainees.
Eligibility
- Chartered Accountant (CA) or Law graduate (LL.B./LL.M. in Tax preferred).
- 3–6 years of experience in direct tax litigation or advisory.
- Exposure to courts and tax authorities.
- Highly organized, diligent, and proactive.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
