Details of the Job/Internship
Neeraj Bhagat & Co. is hiring a Direct Tax Litigation Manager with 6–10 years of experience to join their office in New Delhi. The role involves managing income tax litigation, assessments, appeals, compliance, and providing strategic tax advisory.
Role and Responsibilities
- Represent the organization in direct tax matters before AO, CIT(A), ITAT, and appellate authorities.
- Coordinate and brief external counsel for High Court and Supreme Court cases.
- Prepare and file appeals, submissions, petitions, and replies under the Income Tax Act.
- Handle search & seizure, reassessment, TDS default, and scrutiny matters.
- Manage assessment and reassessment proceedings.
- Liaise with internal teams to collect documentation.
- Ensure compliance with tax notices, summons, and orders.
- Advise management on tax disputes and risks.
- Monitor legal developments and case laws.
- Maintain database of litigation matters, trackers, and case summaries.
Eligibility
- CA / LL.B / LL.M / CS or equivalent professional degree.
- 6–10 years of experience in direct tax litigation and advisory, preferably with a corporate taxation team, law firm, or Big 4.
- In-depth knowledge of the Income Tax Act, CBDT circulars, judicial precedents, and compliance requirements.
- Strong drafting, interpretation, and communication skills.
- Ability to manage multiple cases and deadlines.
- Familiarity with e-filing systems, ITBA, and litigation tracking tools.
