Details of the Job/Internship
Atlassian is hiring a Director of Employment Law (India) to be the first legal team hire in the country.
Role and Responsibilities
- Serve as primary legal advisor on all workforce matters in India, including labor relations and regulatory compliance.
- Build and lead the India employment law function with scalable processes.
- Advise senior leadership and represent Atlassian with regulators, external counsel, and industry bodies.
- Collaborate with HR, Finance, People Operations, and other business units to resolve complex employment issues.
- Monitor legal and regulatory developments and update policies accordingly.
- Deliver training on employment law, compliance, and risk mitigation.
- Support global legal projects and enhance Atlassian’s in-house legal capabilities.
Eligibility
- Qualified lawyer in India with good standing.
- 12+ years of relevant experience in employment law, preferably with multinational corporations or technology companies.
- Proven expertise in Indian labor and employment law.
- Strong executive presence and ability to influence senior leaders.
- Excellent collaboration, communication, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to balance strategic thinking with hands-on execution.
- Preferred: Experience in scaling legal functions in high-growth environments.
