Details of the Job/Internship
Freshworks is hiring an Employment Counsel with experience of 12–16 years to join their office in Bengaluru.
Role and Responsibilities
- Advising HR and leadership on complex and high-risk employment matters across jurisdictions.
- Monitoring legislative developments and implementing policy and process changes.
- Designing and overseeing employment documentation, frameworks, and investigation protocols.
- Supervising investigations, disputes, POSH, whistleblower, and conduct matters.
- Partnering with HR leadership on people programs and compliance initiatives.
- Managing external counsel on multi-jurisdictional matters.
- Advising the Board and leadership on corporate governance and compliance with the Companies Act and securities requirements.
- Overseeing Board, committee, and shareholder meeting governance, statutory filings, and record maintenance.
- Strengthening corporate governance practices and subsidiary governance in coordination with leadership and company secretarial functions.
Eligibility
- Law degree (LL.B.) from a recognised university.
- LL.M., Company Secretary qualification, or additional governance qualification preferred.
- 12–16 years of post-qualification experience in employment law and corporate governance in a law firm or in-house environment.
- Deep expertise in Indian company, employment, and labour laws, with experience across APMEA jurisdictions.
- Experience handling senior exits, restructurings, investigations, and regulatory matters.
- Familiarity with POSH, whistleblower frameworks, and employee data privacy laws.
- Experience leading compliance programs and cross-functional projects.
