Details of the Job/Internship

HCLTech is hiring an ESG Counsel with 10+ years of experience to advise on sustainability strategy, regulatory compliance, and ESG-related risk management.

Role and Responsibilities

• Interpret and apply evolving global ESG, labour, human rights, environmental, and climate-related regulations, including EU, US, and Indian regulatory frameworks such as SEBI BRSR and Companies Act CSR provisions.
• Advise on regulatory developments and anti-greenwashing risks.
• Identify, assess, and mitigate legal risks related to climate change, human rights, supply chain transparency, and governance.
• Review and update corporate policies, supplier codes of conduct, and ESG-linked contracts.
• Lead ESG assessments for mergers, acquisitions, and supply chain partners.
• Ensure accuracy in sustainability reporting and disclosures for investors and regulatory authorities.
• Collaborate with internal teams including sustainability, legal, supply chain, finance, HR, risk, and compliance.
• Engage with external stakeholders such as regulators, auditors, and ESG rating agencies where required.

Eligibility

• LLB or JD required, preferably with specialised knowledge in environmental law or sustainability.
• 10+ years of experience in corporate law, preferably focusing on compliance, risk, or sustainability.
• Strong understanding of frameworks including SEC rules, EU-CSRD, CSDD, GRI, SASB, OECD guidelines, SEBI BRSR, and TCFD/ISSB standards.
• Strong analytical, communication, and negotiation skills with the ability to translate complex ESG regulations into practical business guidance.
