Details of the Job/Internship
Karamtara Engineering is hiring for the position of General Manager Contract Management & Legal with 12-15 years of experience to join their office in Mumbai.
Role and Responsibilities
International Arbitration
- Lead and manage international arbitration proceedings, ensuring compliance with global legal standards and alignment with corporate interests.
 
Contract Management
- Draft, review, and negotiate high-value commercial contracts end-to-end.
 - Vet contracts from legal and risk perspectives, ensuring enforceability and compliance.
 - Handle INCO terms, freight agreements, and vessel-related legal documentation.
 
Claims & Risk Mitigation
- Review and manage legal claims, including vessel and operational disputes.
 - Analyse potential liabilities and implement strategies for risk mitigation and cost control.
 - Provide legal support in procurement-related claims and negotiations.
 
Stakeholder Engagement
- Negotiate with clients, vendors, and third parties on contractual and legal issues.
 - Collaborate with procurement, operations, and finance teams to safeguard company interests.
 
Litigation & Dispute Resolution
- Oversee litigation matters, coordinate with external counsel, and represent the company in legal forums.
 - Formulate and implement effective dispute resolution strategies.
 
Eligibility
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Law (LLB/LLM) from a recognised institution.
 - 12–15 years of post-qualification experience, preferably in a large, listed manufacturing organisation.
 - Strong expertise in international arbitration, maritime claims, INCO terms, and commercial law.
 - Proven ability to manage complex negotiations and mitigate legal risks in a dynamic business environment.
