Details of the Job/Internship

BBG - BUILDING BLOCKS GROUP is hiring for the position of General Manager - Legal with 15+ years of experience to join their office in Hyderabad. 

Role and Responsibilities

1. Legal Leadership & Strategic Advisory

• Lead and manage the legal function across the organization, ensuring alignment with business objectives.
• Advise senior leadership and board members on legal risks, regulatory matters, and business strategies.
• Develop, implement, and oversee legal policies, governance frameworks, and risk mitigation plans.

2. Real Estate & Land Legal Oversight

• Provide expert legal guidance on land acquisition, development projects, government-notified and reserved lands.
• Supervise comprehensive legal due diligence, title verification, and documentation for all property types.
• Ensure all real estate transactions comply with applicable central and state laws and local municipal regulations.

3. Litigation & Dispute Resolution

• Oversee all real estate and corporate litigation matters, with a focus on efficient resolution strategies.
• Liaise with external counsel, manage legal proceedings, and represent the organization in high-stake legal forums.
• Implement proactive measures to reduce litigation risk and manage potential legal disputes effectively.

4. Registration & Compliance (SRO/Plot)

• Manage end-to-end legal processes related to plot registration and dealings with Sub-Registrar Offices (SRO).
• Ensure accurate, timely, and legally compliant registration of plots and related transactions.

5. Documentation & Contract Management

• Oversee drafting, vetting, and execution of critical real estate agreements such as:
• Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs)
• Joint Development Agreements (JDAs)
• Agreements of Sale and Sale Deeds
• Power of Attorney, Procurement Agreements, and Lease Deeds
• Ensure all legal documentation aligns with statutory norms and commercial objectives.

6. Government Liaison & External Coordination

• Engage with regulatory authorities, land registration offices, and other government departments.
• Maintain strategic relationships with external legal firms, advisors, and consultants.

7. Corporate Legal & Statutory Compliance

• Ensure compliance with corporate, SEBI, RERA, and other regulatory frameworks.
• Review and approve major contracts, partnership agreements, and board-related documentation.
• Support cross-functional teams on regulatory and governance-related queries.

Eligibility

• LLB/LLM from a recognized institution; specialization in property or corporate law is preferred.
• Minimum 15 years of post-qualification legal experience, with at least 5 years in a senior leadership role.
• Proven expertise in real estate and land law, including large-scale acquisitions and development projects.
• Strong litigation experience and ability to handle complex legal disputes.
• Excellent drafting, negotiation, and communication skills.
• Ability to manage external legal counsel and interact with senior stakeholders and authorities.
