UPL Ltd. (NSE: UPL & BSE: 512070) is hiring for the position of Global Trademark Lead with 10+ years of experience to join their office in Noida.
Role and Responsibilities
- Trademark Portfolio Management
- Develop and execute a global trademark strategy aligned with business goals and brand architecture.
- Manage all aspects of trademark prosecution, renewals, oppositions, and enforcement worldwide.
- Conduct trademark risk assessments and clearance searches for new product launches and brand extensions.
- Provide strategic IP advice to business units, marketing, R&D, and product development teams.
- Handle disputes, oppositions, cancellations, and litigation with support from external counsel.
- Copyright Protection & Strategy
- Advise on copyright protection for software, packaging, digital assets, creative content, and marketing materials.
- Draft and negotiate copyright agreements including licenses, assignments, and co-branding deals.
- Enforce copyright rights globally and manage infringement-related actions.
- Brand Protection & Anti-Counterfeiting
- Design and implement global anti-counterfeiting strategies in coordination with customs, law enforcement, and regulatory bodies.
- Address unauthorized use, parallel imports, and online infringements.
- Conduct internal training sessions on IP enforcement and compliance practices.
- IP Agreements & Licensing
- Draft, review, and negotiate IP-related contracts including licensing, coexistence, collaboration, and assignment agreements.
- Advise business teams on IP clauses in commercial agreements, sponsorships, and partnerships.
- Compliance & Risk Management
- Ensure adherence to global IP regulations, including the Madrid Protocol and country-specific trademark and copyright laws.
- Develop and implement internal policies and best practices for IP use and brand governance.
- Support due diligence and risk assessments in M&A transactions.
- Litigation & Dispute Resolution
- Lead global trademark and copyright enforcement actions, including domain name disputes and UDRP matters.
- Manage external counsel in IP litigation, arbitration, and administrative proceedings.
Eligibility
- Bachelor’s degree in Law (LL.B.); LL.M. in Intellectual Property Law is preferred.
- Minimum 10 years of hands-on experience in trademark and copyright law, including global prosecution and enforcement.
- Industry experience in FMCG, life sciences, or agrochemicals is highly desirable.
- Demonstrated experience in anti-counterfeiting, brand protection, and working with enforcement agencies.
- Skilled in negotiating complex IP contracts and managing disputes.
- Strong leadership skills with a track record of managing teams and cross-functional stakeholders.
- Familiarity with digital brand protection, domain name strategies, and emerging IP technologies.
