Details of the Job/Internship

SRM Group is hiring a Group Legal Head with 15–25+ years of experience to join their office in Chennai, Tamil Nadu.

Role and Responsibilities

• Act as the principal legal advisor to top management on mergers, acquisitions, and strategic business expansions.
• Oversee and manage the end-to-end lifecycle of all civil and criminal litigation involving the Group.
• Coordinate with external legal counsels and advocates to ensure timely filing of appeals and affidavits.
• Maintain a centralized Litigation Management Information System (MIS) to track case progress.
• Ensure group-wide compliance with corporate laws, statutory regulations, and governance frameworks.
• Lead arbitration, mediation, and alternative dispute resolution mechanisms to mitigate business risks.
• Draft, vet, and negotiate complex agreements, including JVs, property leases, and employment contracts.
• Conduct legal due diligence for new projects and establish internal legal controls and SOPs.
• Mentor and lead the legal teams across various business units to ensure consistent legal safeguards.

Eligibility

• LLB / LLM from a recognized university.
• Mandatory: Enrollment with the Bar Council of India.
• 15–25+ years of relevant legal experience in reputed corporate environments.
• Proven track record in handling complex litigation, arbitration, and corporate legal matters.
• Preferred: Prior experience as a Head of Legal or Senior Legal Counsel in a multi-vertical organization.
• Expertise in civil, criminal, and corporate law with excellent drafting and negotiation skills.
• Willingness to travel for court cases and business needs as required.
