Details of the Job/Internship
Neeraj Bhagat & Co. is hiring a GST Litigation Manager with 2–7 years of relevant experience in indirect tax litigation to join their office in New Delhi.
Role and Responsibilities
- Handle litigation matters pertaining to GST, VAT, service tax, excise, and customs.
- Draft and review legal submissions, replies, appeals, writ petitions, and SLPs before adjudicating authorities, tribunals, High Courts, and the Supreme Court.
- Represent clients or the company before tax authorities, appellate bodies, and courts.
- Coordinate with external counsels and law firms for litigation strategy and hearings.
- Assist in pre-litigation assessments, advisory, and risk mitigation.
- Maintain case trackers and status reports, and ensure timely filing of appeals and replies.
- Monitor updates in tax laws, circulars, and judicial precedents related to indirect taxation.
- Provide strategic inputs on contentious issues and assist in shaping internal policy or client advisory.
- Respond to notices, show cause notices (SCNs), and conduct assessments.
- Ensure compliance with litigation timelines, documentation, and procedural requirements.
Eligibility
- LL.B / Chartered Accountant (CA) / Company Secretary (CS) with specialization in Taxation preferred.
- 2–7 years of relevant experience in indirect tax litigation.
- Mandatory experience in GST litigation.
- Strong knowledge of GST law, legacy laws (Service Tax, VAT, Excise), and appellate procedures.
- Excellent drafting and legal research skills.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Experience in interacting with government authorities and external counsels.
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple litigation matters.
