Details of the Job/Internship

Unacademy is looking for a candidate for the position of Head of Compliance.

Role and Responsibilities

• To ensure GC on compliances applicable for the business and to support Offline Business operations/expansion across India.
• To complete the process of obtaining permissions/Licenses /Registration in compliance with applicable laws for existing and new centers.
• Preliminary due diligence of documents before signing of LOI /MOU for new centers.
• Cost evaluation for completion of a licensing requirement for new centers and renewal of licenses for existing centers.
• To support business operations on Legal and compliance-related inspections, notices, challans, and regulatory visits through different Government departments.
• To assess the emerging legal and licensing challenges in India and to take necessary measures through regular visits/meetings with various regulatory authorities, to ensure smooth business operations in compliance with applicable laws/rules/regulations.
• Vetting of Legal agreements/contracts in view of Fire norms, municipal laws, and building regulations applicable for the state/city - For smooth execution of agreements for business units.
• To ensure Labour law compliance for the company and to support the timely execution of labor-related compliances/returns applicable to the company.
• To ensure Fire compliance and Fire safety audits for the offline centers located across India.
• To support business units on issue resolutions and business continuity. To provide support on customer complaints and providing a support system for cross-functional teams like business operations, HR, marketing, Projects, O & M administration, etc.
• To initiate Investigations, police complaints, and FIR registrations, and liaise with Government departments for smooth business operations and HR support.
• Responsible for maintaining Licensing and Compliance Reports, MIS Reports, and Monthly/Quarterly presentations for the management.
• To support all functions on litigation, complaints, and court cases against the company.

Eligibility

• Bachelor’s degree in Law, Business Administration, Finance, or a related field with a minimum of 10+ years of experience in compliance, and risk management.
• Previous experience in a leadership role within a compliance department.
• Strong knowledge of regulatory requirements and compliance practices.
• Excellent communication, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to lead and inspire a team.
• Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.

Salary/Stipend
