Details of the Job/Internship
Continental is hiring for the position of Head of Legal with 3 years of experience to join their office in Bengaluru.
Role and Responsibilities
Strategic Legal Management & Collaboration
- Contribute to department strategy, operational planning, and budgeting aligned with overall business goals.
- Drive the development of best practices, policies, and organizational structures to enhance efficiency, reduce legal risk, and optimize resource allocation.
- Ensure seamless communication between the legal team and regional leadership.
- Build and strengthen partnerships with internal stakeholders across functions and locations in India.
Legal Counsel
- Provide expert legal guidance on civil, corporate, business, labor, and procedural laws.
- Identify and mitigate legal risks early by implementing effective risk management strategies.
- Engage and negotiate with external stakeholders, including clients, suppliers, and public authorities as needed.
Contract Management
- Draft, review, and negotiate a wide array of commercial and legal contracts.
- Develop and maintain contract templates tailored to the Indian market.
- Leverage contract management tools to streamline processes and improve compliance.
Litigation & Dispute Resolution
- Manage claims and litigation matters, representing the company in both in-court and out-of-court proceedings.
- Safeguard the company's interests in all legal forums and government interactions.
Regulatory Compliance & Monitoring
- Ensure company-wide adherence to applicable laws and corporate policies.
- Monitor legislative changes and communicate relevant updates to internal stakeholders, assessing their impact on business operations.
External Counsel Management
- Oversee the engagement and performance of external legal advisors.
- Manage costs effectively while ensuring quality legal services.
- Translate complex legal advice into practical guidance for internal teams.
Eligibility
Education:
- Bachelor of Laws (LL.B.) from a reputable institution; strong academic track record required.
Professional Experience:
- Minimum 15 years of post-qualification legal experience, including both private practice and in-house roles.
- At least 8 years of experience developing/managing contract review systems and handling major transactions from a legal standpoint.
- Minimum 3 years of experience leading a legal team or managing in-house counsel.
