Details of the Job/Internship

Prestige Group is hiring a Head of Legal with experience of 20 to 25 years to join their office in Bengaluru.

Role and Responsibilities

• Ensure all real estate operations comply with applicable laws, including property, zoning, environmental, tax, and other regulatory requirements.
• Identify and manage legal risks in real estate transactions and advise senior management on risk mitigation strategies.
• Develop and implement company-wide legal policies to minimize legal risks and ensure compliance.
• Oversee legal aspects of real estate transactions, including acquisitions, leases, sales, partnerships, and financing.
• Review purchase agreements, joint venture agreements, MOUs, Term Sheets, Commercial Contracts, Agreements to Sell, Conveyance Deeds, Notices, Security Documents, and other transaction and structuring documents of real estate business and other related documents.
• Conduct due diligence on properties and assess legal risks related to title, zoning, environmental compliance, and other potential liabilities.
• Manage disputes, litigations, and arbitrations related to real estate transactions or operational matters.
• Collaborate with external counsel and represent the company’s interests in legal proceedings, mediation, or negotiations.
• Oversee resolution of disputes with tenants, contractors, and other stakeholders in real estate matters.
• Provide legal advice to senior management and stakeholders on real estate strategies and legal implications of business decisions.
• Guide the company’s expansion or investment initiatives by offering insights into regulatory requirements and local legal issues in new markets.
• Act as a liaison with government authorities, regulatory bodies, external legal firms, and other relevant organizations.
• Foster relationships with external legal partners and counsel to address specific real estate matters requiring specialized legal expertise.
• Lead and develop an in-house legal team, setting objectives, conducting performance reviews, and providing training on legal topics.
• Promote a culture of legal awareness within the company by educating other departments on compliance and legal risk factors.
• Other roles and responsibilities assigned by the reporting manager.
