Since 2018, Assiduus has provided full-stack tech-enabled middleware for digital distribution and supply chain management for brands, helping them accelerate sales across global marketplaces, including DTC platforms like Shopify.
Details of the Job/Internship
They seek a proactive, highly skilled, and detail-oriented In-House Counsel to join their team. The candidate will play a critical role in supporting company growth and managing the legal framework of their business operations, including contract management, ensuring compliance, and mitigating risks.
The ideal candidate has worked with one or more companies engaged in complex distribution and supply chain networks and is familiar with e-commerce marketplace business models and associated legal frameworks. Candidates with experience in large enterprise companies or marketplaces are preferred. Moreover, the candidate should have had exposure or experience with drafting, reviewing, and negotiating contracts international commercial contracts, which includes the areas of export, import, shipping, and warehousing. Finally, as it is an in-house role, candidates are expected to ensure compliance with employment laws and data privacy regulations and processing.
Role and Responsibilities
Legal Operations Management
- Manage and organize legal filing systems, archiving, and records to ensure accessibility and compliance.
- Leverage legal technology to improve contract management, compliance monitoring, and operational efficiency.
- Oversee day-to-day legal operations and serve as the main point of contact for internal and external legal matters.
Contract Management
- Draft, review, and negotiate international commercial contracts, including vendor agreements, non-disclosure agreements (NDAs), service-level agreements (SLAs), and partnership contracts.
- Develop and maintain standard contract templates tailored to the company’s operations.
- Risk Assessment and Mitigation.
Legal Compliance & Internal Policies
- Ensure the company complies with international trade laws, import/export regulations, data protection requirements, etc.
- Oversee adherence to consumer protection regulations, product labeling, safety standards, and advertising laws.
- Develop, implement, and maintain internal legal policies, procedures, and frameworks, and conduct periodic reviews to ensure policies remain relevant and effective.
Eligibility
Educational Background
- Bachelor’s degree in Law (LLB) from a recognized institution; an LLM and/or active bar membership in at least one jurisdiction is a plus.
Experience
- 6-8 years of experience as a legal counsel, preferably in corporate or in-house roles.
- Exposure to legal operations within large enterprise companies or marketplaces is highly desirable.

Salary/Stipend
