Details of the Job/Internship

Lokal is hiring for the position of In-House Legal Counsel with 2-5 years of experience to join their office in Bengaluru. 

Role and Responsibilities

Contract Lifecycle Management

• Draft, review, and negotiate a variety of agreements (vendor, partnership, service, etc.).
• Maintain an organized contract repository and monitor key terms (renewals, expiry, etc.).

Intellectual Property Management

• Track trademark filings and coordinate with IP attorneys.
• Review and manage legal submissions for IP protection.

Due Diligence

• Coordinate legal and compliance documentation for investors and vendors.
• Manage legal input during audits and diligence processes.

Compliance & Employment Law

• Ensure regulatory and statutory compliance across company functions.
• Oversee CS activities and review HR policies for legal soundness.

App Governance & Policy

• Draft and update privacy policies, terms of use, and content/community guidelines for each app.
• Ensure platform operations adhere to data privacy and content regulations.

Legal Documentation & Notices

• Draft responses to legal queries, notices, or regulatory inquiries (e.g., police, inspectors).
• Assist in legal recovery matters and correspondence.

Legal Advisory & Research

• Conduct legal research on contracts, compliance, litigation, or new regulations.
• Advise internal stakeholders on risk and best practices..

Eligibility

• LL.B. or equivalent from a recognized institution.
• 2–5 years of legal experience in-house or at a reputed law firm.
• Strong skills in drafting, negotiation, and legal research.
• Solid understanding of IP, compliance, and employment law.
• Ability to manage multiple stakeholders in a fast-paced startup environment.
• Excellent written and verbal communication in English.

Salary/Stipend
