Details of the Job/Internship
Lakshmikumaran and Sridharan attorneys is hiring an Associate in the Indirect Tax Customs team with 0–2 years of experience to join their Mumbai office.
Role and Responsibilities
- Handle advisory and litigation engagements relating to Customs, Foreign Trade Policy, SEZ, and related subjects.
- Assist seniors in appearances before tax officers, Tribunal, High Court, and Supreme Court.
- Draft legal documents including legal opinions, replies, and tax appeals.
- Stay updated on legal developments and contribute to firm knowledge-building initiatives such as case law digests, articles, and conferences.
- Identify and address technical issues while maintaining firm risk protocols.
- Prepare submissions, replies, and appeals in tax matters; represent clients in appeals with managers.
- Manage independent responsibility for smaller clients and build rapport with client management.
- Apply commercial and business insights in delivering solutions to clients.
- Network internally and externally to identify potential opportunities.
- Contribute actively to the firm’s knowledge management and stay updated on taxation laws.
Eligibility
- Law graduate from a recognized law school with strong academic performance.
- 0–2 years of post-qualification experience in Indirect Tax.
- Prior experience in Customs, Foreign Trade Policy, or SEZ preferred.
