Details of the Job/Internship

Lakshmikumaran & Sridharan is hiring an Associate – Indirect Tax (Customs) with 0–2 years of experience to join their offices in Mumbai.

Role and Responsibilities

• Handle advisory and litigation matters related to Customs, Foreign Trade Policy, and SEZ.
• Assist seniors in appearances before tax authorities, tribunals, High Courts, and the Supreme Court.
• Draft legal opinions, replies, and tax appeals.
• Prepare submissions, replies to notices, and assist in appeals.
• Represent clients along with managers in tax proceedings.
• Work across multiple clients and manage smaller assignments independently.
• Stay updated on legal developments and contribute to knowledge initiatives such as case law digests and articles.
• Participate in litigation meetings, conferences, and internal discussions.
• Identify technical issues and provide practical solutions to clients.
• Build client relationships and develop commercial understanding.
• Network internally and identify opportunities for existing clients.

Eligibility

• Law graduate from a reputed law school with a strong academic record.
• 0–2 years of post-qualification experience in indirect tax.
• Prior experience in Customs, Foreign Trade Policy, or SEZ is preferred.
• Strong drafting, research, and analytical skills.
• Ability to handle client interactions and work in a team environment.
