Details of the MUN/Debate/Competition
Client counselling, as the name suggests, is a vital skill in which the students of law should be trained. One of the significant functions of a lawyer is client consultation. They provide legal advice to clients, helping them understand their rights and the implications of their legal situations. The problems for the competition will be based on various civil and criminal laws.
Rules & Regulations
- The official language of the competition shall be English.
- All submission made to and/or before the judges shall be in English.
- Dress Code: Participants are strictly required to adhere to the following dress code during the competition
- Male - White Salwar and Kurta or White Shirt and Black Pant, Black Coat, and Black Shoes.
- Female - White Shirt, Black Trousers, Black Tie, Black Coat, and Black Shoes.
- Use of Advocate's Gowns, Bands and Robes is strictly prohibited.
- No accommodation/TA,DA will be provided by the university.
- The decision of the judges/panel and the organization committee shall be considered final and non- debatable in any dispute.
Themes
The competition will focus on following areas/spectrum of laws:
- Contract Law
- Family Law
- Criminal Laws
- Participants are advised to prepare thoroughly in these areas, as the client scenarios and questions will
- revolve around them.
- The problem of client counselling shall be provided 72 hours before the competition and the client will be
- provided on the spot.
- Separate problem shall be shared for semi-final round and final round.
Eligibility
Students enrolled in a law program and pursuing full-time five-year or three-year undergraduate law courses in any University/ College/ Department are eligible to apply for registration of their team in Inter-University Client Counselling Competition, 2025.
Team Composition
- Participants must make a team of 2 students in order to participate (Counsel 1 and Counsel 2).
- Only one team from each institution is allowed to participate in the competition. If two teams of the same institution apply, the first registered team will be selected for participation.
Rounds:
- 27th February (Online) - Preliminary
- 19th March 2025 (Offline) - Semi-Final & Final at K.R. Mangalam University.

Awards
- Best Team – Trophy, Certificate & Cash Prize of Rs. 5000 (1st Prize)
- 1st Runer up – Trophy, Certificate & Cash Prize of Rs. 3000.
- Every Participant shall be awarded a Certificate of Participation.
