The Indian Institute of Legal Studies, Siliguri, affiliated with the University of North Bengal, offers a variety of esteemed legal programs. It is recognized by the Bar Council of India (BCI) and approved under Section 2(f) and Section 12(B) under the University Grants Commission Act, 1956. The Institute focuses on the integration of legal theory with practical application, preparing students to lead legal reforms in India.

Details of the Moot Court Competition
The Indian Institute of Legal Studies, located in the sub-Himalayan town of Siliguri is organizing an International Moot Court Competition on May 9th, 10th and 11th, 2025. The Competition shall be held in Offline mode. The Institute invites institutions to participate in the International Moot Court 2025.
The event aligns with our commitment to academic excellence and promoting the rule of law, while fostering international camaraderie among budding legal professionals. To ensure the success of this event, we seek the valuable support and collaboration of your esteemed association to elevate our upcoming event's impact.
This prestigious event will bring together participants from leading law schools across the globe, providing a platform for students to enhance their advocacy skills, learn from their peers, and engage with the legal fraternity.
The Competition shall consist of the following Oral Pleading Sessions:
- The Preliminary Rounds;
- The Quarter-Final Rounds;
- The Semi-Final Rounds; and
- The Final Round.
Dress Code: The participants shall be in formals inside the court room.
- For female(s): Black salwar and white kurta along with black blazer and black shoes or white shirt and black trouser along with black tie, black blazer and black shoes.
- For Male(s): White shirt and black trouser along with black tie, black blazer and black shoes.
Languag: The language for the Competition shall be English only.
Eligibility
Eligibility of Participants:
- FOR INDIAN STUDENTS: Students pursuing their undergraduate degree in law or either in the 5 year Integrated course or 3 year course and post graduate degree in law in 2 years course or 1 year course from any recognized university, college or institution in India are eligible to participate in the competition.
- FOR INTERNATIONAL STUDENTS: Students pursuing a degree, or similar graduate or postgraduate qualification or training in law, or a field related to international law, or in international relations, provided that they have received, or will receive while participating,adequate instruction in international law are eligible to participate in the competition.
Team Eligibility: Participation of teams are subject to the written authorisation of their respective university, college, or institution and pursuant to their selection by the Organising Committee.
Team Composition:
- Each team shall consist of three members (two speakers and one researcher).
- The researcher will only be allowed to argue instead of a speaker, with prior permission of the judges.
- No cross institutional teams are allowed.
- Only one team from every institution is allowed.

- WINNER AWARD: Rs 1,00,000/- with trophy
- RUNNER UP AWARD: Rs. 50,000/- with Trophy
- Best Speaker Award: Rs. 15,000/- with Trophy
- Best Researcher Award: Rs. 15,000/- with Trophy
- Best Memorial Award: Rs.10,000/- with Trophy
Each team members of winning team shall be awarded with trophy as a token of appreciation. All the Participants will get participation certificates post the Valedictory Ceremony.
