Freshworks is hiring an IP & Product Counsel with 8–12 years of experience to join their legal team.
Role and Responsibilities
- Manage patent strategy, portfolio development, and invention disclosure processes.
- Draft, review, and coordinate patent applications with USPTO and external patent counsel.
- Evaluate invention disclosures as part of the Patent Review Committee.
- Prepare, file, and manage global trademark applications and enforcement actions.
- Advise on branding strategies and trademark implications for new products.
- Support IP litigation, dispute resolution, and opposition matters.
- Advise on open-source software license compliance and oversee OSS processes.
- Handle DMCA notices, copyright claims, and takedown procedures.
- Provide guidance throughout product development, including IP ownership, licensing, and risk mitigation.
- Support legal due diligence and processes for new product launches and features.
- Draft and update IP-related provisions in commercial agreements.
- Review and negotiate technology, integration, API, and partnership agreements.
- Advise on compliance with global privacy laws including GDPR, CCPA, and DORA.
- Monitor legal developments in IP, AI, SaaS, and technology regulations.
- Review marketing materials and product communication for regulatory compliance.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams and act as a trusted business partner.
- Drive improvements in legal processes, templates, and playbooks.
- Train internal teams on IP, compliance, and risk management.
Eligibility
- Graduate degree in Computer Science/Engineering and Law.
- 8–12 years of experience in IP, product counselling, and technology law in law firms and multinational tech/SaaS companies.
- Experience with USPTO processes, international trademark prosecution, and global IP filings.
- Strong experience in patent prosecution, trademark management, and IP enforcement.
- Expertise in advising on SaaS product development and commercialization.
- Proven ability to draft and negotiate complex technology agreements.
- Familiarity with GDPR, CCPA, and other global privacy regulations.
- Experience with open-source licensing and compliance.
Salary/Stipend
