Details of the Job/Internship
SM Legal Advocates & Solicitors is hiring a Junior Associate – Indirect Tax Litigation & Advisory with a minimum of 1 year post-qualification experience to join their office in Kolkata.
Role and Responsibilities
- Independently brief senior advocates and prepare case summaries.
- Conduct legal research and prepare precedent compilations.
- Appear in court for case mentioning and procedural matters.
- Draft legal opinions, writ petitions, appeals, and replies.
- Ensure timely and accurate preparation of legal documents.
- Assist during court hearings and coordinate with clients.
- Maintain organized case files and track deadlines.
Eligibility
- Law degree (LLB/BA LLB/BBA LLB) from a recognized institution.
- Enrolled with the Bar Council.
- Minimum 1 year of post-qualification experience in the tax domain.
- Strong understanding of indirect tax laws (GST, Service Tax, Customs, Excise).
- Excellent legal research and analytical abilities.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Proficiency in legal drafting.
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple cases.
- Attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Proficiency in legal databases and research tools.
- Good command over English and local language.
