Details of the Job/Internship
Houzeo is hiring an experienced In-House Attorney to join their legal team and play a vital role in ensuring legal compliance, protection of intellectual property, and interactions with regulatory authorities. You will be responsible for providing comprehensive legal support and guidance in a wide range of areas critical to our business operations. Your role will be instrumental in safeguarding our intellectual property, ensuring compliance with real estate regulations, and managing legal matters related to our agreements with local Multiple Listing Services (MLSs).
Role and Responsibilities
Real Estate Regulatory Compliance:
1. Research, review, and draft legal notices and responses to regulatory authorities in multiple U.S. states.
2. Stay updated on evolving real estate regulations and ensure our operations align with all applicable laws.
Intellectual Property Management:
1. Assist in the drafting process of trademarks and patents related to the corporation's technology inventions.
2. Protect our intellectual property by monitoring and taking necessary legal actions against infringements.
Advertising and Branding Compliance:
1. Research and advise the team on compliance related to advertising and branding of listings syndicated from multiple local MLSs.
2. Ensure that our advertising and branding practices adhere to both IDX / MLS guidelines and legal requirements.
Agreement Review and Liability Assessment:
1. Thoroughly review the corporation's agreements with local MLSs to identify the scope of our liability.
2. Provide legal counsel to the team regarding contractual obligations and risk mitigation strategies.
Cease and Desist Notices:
1. Draft and send cease and desist notices when necessary to protect our interests and intellectual property rights.
General Legal Support:
1. Undertake any legal research, drafting, reviewing, or tasks that fall within the scope of legal research and conveyance.
2. Collaborate with external counsel, as needed, to address specialized legal matters.
Eligibility
- LL.B degree and active bar membership.
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in a legal capacity, with a focus on real estate, intellectual property, or related areas.
- Strong knowledge of real estate regulations, intellectual property law, and contract law.
- Exceptional research, drafting, and communication skills.
- Ability to work independently, manage multiple tasks, and meet deadlines.
- High attention to detail and analytical thinking.
- Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.
