Details of the Job/Internship

V.J. Mathew & Co., International Law Firm is hiring a Legal Associate with 1–2 years of post-qualification litigation experience to join its litigation team at its Cochin office. The role involves assisting senior counsels, handling court-related work, drafting, research, client communication, and administrative support in line with the firm’s professional and ethical standards.

Role and Responsibilities

• Conduct legal research and analysis on issues related to client matters.
• Assist in drafting legal documents, including pleadings, motions, and briefs.
• Assist senior counsels in drafting and presenting cases before courts.
• Attend court hearings and legal proceedings and present cases independently when required.
• Review and summarise legal documents, contracts, and agreements.
• Communicate with clients, opposing counsel, and third parties as required.
• Manage email communication relating to client requirements.
• Assist in case preparation, including organising and maintaining case files and documentation.
• File cases electronically and physically and ensure timely posting of cases.
• Perform administrative tasks as assigned to support efficient firm operations.

Eligibility

• LLB/LLM degree from a reputed recognised university.
• Enrolment with the Bar Council and valid licence to practice law in India.
• 1–2 years of post-qualification experience in litigation.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English and Malayalam.
• Strong academic record with interest in legal research and writing.
• Ability to multitask, prioritise work, and meet deadlines.
• Strong interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
• Familiarity with Maritime Law will be an added advantage.

Salary/Stipend
