Details of the Job/Internship

Sony Pictures Networks is hiring for the position of Lead Counsel - Distribution with 15-20 years of experience to join their office in Mumbai. 

Role and Responsibilities

• Cross-Functional Coordination: Collaborate with sales, business, and commercial teams to address legal matters and recommend appropriate actions.
• Legal Advisory: Proactively assess potential legal issues and provide strategic guidance to business and sales teams.
• Drafting and Communication: Draft legal notices, responses, and routine communications, including deactivation notices, incentive letters, and responses to operator communications.
• Regulatory Compliance: Review and ensure adherence to TRAI Regulations, Tariff Orders, and other applicable guidelines for the distribution business.
• Consultation Papers: Analyze and provide feedback on TRAI’s Consultation Papers related to broadcasting and distribution.
• Data Management: Submit requisite data and information to TRAI in a timely manner.
• Litigation Support: Coordinate with the litigation vertical for ongoing legal proceedings before TDSAT, Magistrate’s Court, High Court, Supreme Court, etc.
• Briefing External Counsel: Assist in briefing advocates and counsel on cases involving operators.
• Stakeholder Updates: Keep relevant stakeholders informed of litigation developments and outcomes.
• Document Management: Ensure timely uploading of legal documents to the company’s systems and databases.
• Regulatory Compliance: Ensure the reference interconnect offer aligns with TRAI regulations and address related business and sales team queries.

Eligibility

• Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in Law (LL.B.); LL.M. preferred.
• Experience: 10-15 years of post-qualification experience in a mid-to-large corporate (preferably in broadcasting, media, or telecom) or a reputed law firm handling telecom, media, and distribution clients.
