Details of the Job/Internship

Pocket FM is hiring for the position of Lead Counsel - Intellectual Property with 15-20 years of experience to join their office in Bengaluru.

Role and Responsibilities

• IP Strategy & Management
• Lead the legal strategy for IP acquisition, creation, licensing, and monetization.
• Establish robust chain-of-title protocols for all original and acquired content.
• Set and implement IP policies across content development, production, and publishing pipelines.
• Enforcement & Dispute Resolution
• Manage IP protection efforts including takedown notices, copyright infringement claims, and piracy issues.
• Oversee litigation and coordinate with external counsel for disputes, if necessary.
• Commercial & Licensing Advisory
• Structure and negotiate complex licensing, co-ownership, and joint development agreements.
• Advise on technology transfers, format rights, character IPs, and adaptation rights (e.g., audio to video).
• Portfolio Development
• Build and manage Pocket FM’s India content rights portfolio, tracking ownership, term, territory, and usage rights.
• Stakeholder Enablement & Education
• Create legal playbooks and SOPs for content, publishing, and creative teams.
• Educate internal stakeholders on IP rights, copyright law, licensing, patents, and clean room development.

Eligibility

• 15–20 years of legal experience, including at least 5 years in a media/entertainment company, production house, or content platform.
• Proven expertise in Indian copyright law, digital content regulations, and IP licensing frameworks.
• Strong experience in handling takedowns, infringement notices, and digital content-related litigation.
• Exceptional negotiation skills and ability to manage royalty structures and rights-based agreements.
• Ability to review creative content (scripts, formats, characters) from both legal and commercial perspectives.
• Sharp commercial acumen with the ability to balance legal risk and business innovation.

Salary/Stipend
