Details of the Job/Internship
Sony Pictures Networks is hiring for the position of Lead Counsel - IT &Technology with 10-12 years of experience to join their office in Mumbai Metropolitan Region.
Role and Responsibilities
1. Data Protection & Privacy
- Lead implementation of the Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023.
- Oversee privacy compliance for SonyLIV, including GDPR and data protection laws in Australia, New Zealand, Singapore, etc.
- Draft and update privacy policies, cookie policies, and terms of use across digital platforms (e.g., SET, SAB, PIX).
- Advise internal teams (marketing, contests, HR, etc.) on data collection and processing practices.
- Draft internal privacy documentation for employees, vendors, contestants, customers, and others.
- Respond to government consultation papers, draft legislations, and keep pace with global privacy developments.
2. Technology & Enterprise IT
- Draft and negotiate agreements related to:
- Software licensing, SaaS, cloud computing, software development.
- Technology outsourcing, shared services, payment gateways, and aggregators.
- Cybersecurity services and IT infrastructure (data centers, storage facilities).
- Provide legal support for enterprise-wide digital transformation and IT-related procurement.
- Manage legal risk around digital tools and platforms in alignment with company objectives.
3. Anti-Piracy & Content Protection
- Drive organization-wide implementation of the Anti-Piracy Policy.
- Collaborate with vendors, industry bodies, and government agencies to monitor, detect, and act against digital piracy.
- Lead litigation related to copyright infringement, domain seizures, and takedown actions.
- Stay updated with intellectual property law developments and conduct internal training on piracy prevention.
Eligibility
- LL.B. from a recognized university in India.
- 10–12 years of pure legal experience, preferably with:
- Leading law firms and/or in-house roles at MNCs.
- At least 5–6 years in the media & entertainment sector.
Proven experience in:
- Technology contracts and commercial transactions.
- Data protection laws and compliance frameworks.
- Intellectual property and anti-piracy enforcement.
Salary/Stipend
