Details of the Job/Internship
Sony Pictures Networks India is hiring a Lead Counsel with experience of 8 to 10 years to join their office in Mumbai.
Role and Responsibilities
- Assist in implementation of the Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023;
- Handling privacy matters for LIV, including but not limited to ensuring compliance with GDPR;
- Reviewing and updating the privacy policies, cookie policies and TOUs of LIV in line with the privacy laws in various international geographies like Australia, New Zealand, Singapore, etc.;
- Updating the privacy policies and TOUs on the channel websites like SET, SAB, PIX, etc. along with microsite terms and conditions;
- Advising and preparing necessary documentation pertaining to the processing of personal data relating to employees, agencies, vendors, customers, contestants, participants, etc.;
- Advising the various teams on privacy-related compliances vis-a-vis contests, marketing activities, etc.;
- Preparing responses to consultation papers, discussion papers, draft laws, etc. about privacy issued by the government from time to time;
- Keeping abreast with privacy developments in India and internationally and ensuring compliance to the extent applicable.
- Sony LIV - Handling documentation and negotiations in relation to Sony LIV pertaining to:
- Software licenses, cloud computing, SaaS agreements, technology outsourcings, software license agreements, software development agreements, service providers, shared services and related regulatory considerations.
- Several ancillary agreements related to the above.
- Handling documentations and negotiations, at an organization level, pertaining to:
- Information Technology: agreements relating to software licenses, cloud computing, SaaS agreements, technology outsourcings, software license agreements, software development agreements and related regulatory considerations.
- Infrastructure: agreements relating to licensing, services, data centre and storage facilities.
- Information Security: agreements relating to security technologies and legal issues related to cybersecurity services.
- Several ancillary agreements related to the above.
- Participation in bid submissions including preparing and submitting clarifications pertaining to the media rights/production agreements;
- Preparing/reviewing and negotiating several agreements pertaining to media rights and content licensing;
- Advising the business team on various aspects pertaining to the transactions in relation to rights procurement, scope of intellectual property and other contractual rights and obligations.
- Deployment of appropriate processes and practices in line with industry best practices and for streamlining the business.
Eligibility
- LL.B. (undergraduate law degree) from a recognized university in India.
- PQE of 8-10 years [of pure legal experience] (with several years of experience at leading global law firm(s) and/or in-house at a major multinational corporations), preferably with some portion of that experience in commercial transactions and information technology (as mentioned below).
- 5 – 6 years in the Media & Entertainment Industry with at least 1 years of in data protection.
