Details of the Job/Internship
Tala is hiring a Lead Counsel with 8+ years of experience to join their Bangalore office.
Role and Responsibilities
- Lead NBFC license compliance strategy and partnerships.
- Advise on product regulation and structure new business lines.
- Oversee corporate governance, compliance, and legal matters for Tala India.
- Stay updated on RBI, Companies Act, FEMA, and other regulatory requirements.
- Draft, review, and negotiate commercial contracts.
- Handle secretarial and regulatory filings.
- Collaborate with regulatory bodies and manage external counsel.
- Implement and monitor comprehensive compliance structures.
- Identify and manage compliance risks across new and existing business activities.
- Maintain legal and governance documentation.
- Manage and mentor the in-country legal team.
- Align local compliance systems with Tala’s global strategies.
Eligibility
- Law degree from a recognized institution.
- Company Secretary certification.
- 8+ years post-qualification experience.
- Minimum 2 years in a top-tier law firm.
- At least 2 years as a legal/compliance advisor to an NBFC.
- Strong knowledge of RBI regulations, Companies Act, FEMA, and fintech-related compliance.
- Experience with fintech or international companies preferred.
