More Retail Private Limited is actively searching for a qualified individual to fill the position of Lead for Legal and Compliance. In this role, the selected candidate will be responsible for overseeing and managing all legal and compliance matters within the organization. This includes ensuring that the company operates within legal boundaries and complies with relevant regulations and standards.
Role and Responsibilities
Principal Responsibilities:
- Legal due diligence, title verification to take the properties suitable to the business on lease basis and leave and license basis.
- Drafting of Lease deeds, Leave and License Agreements and various underlying contracts and agreements to secure the interest of the company.
- Understanding business requirements and negotiating the contract terms with internal stake holders and third parties with a view to finalize and close the agreements within set timelines.
- Litigation management for the Region including MIS, vetting and drafting of pleadings, affidavits, notices, reply to notices etc
- Engage advocates, brief and co-ordinate with advocates and internal business departments for ongoing litigation matters/upcoming including Civil Suits, Section-138 NI Act, legal recoveries, FSSAI matters, Legal Metrology cases, consumer cases, other civil and criminal cases, maintaining trackers and reporting the same to management.
- Attending litigation matters before courts, Arbitration proceedings and handle other civil and criminal matters in courts, tribunals, before Adjudicating Officers and before statutory bodies etc.
- Supervising litigation to ensure speedy closure of cases by jointly formulating strategies/ arguments in close coordination with external counsels
- Responsible for closure of all legal and statutory issues and requirements of the region including monitoring of compliances and license requirements under FSSA, LMA etc in collaboration with compliance team.
- Handling all notices in drafting representations and issuing or replying to the noitces received from vendors or from Statutory bodies like FSSA, LMA etc.
- Interpreting and providing legal opinion on applicable laws, legal and statutory requirements to enable smooth functioning of business, advising business on various compliances with recent updates on the applicable laws.
- Drafting and vetting various commercial contracts pertaining to supplier, vendor, confidentiality contracts, lease deeds, rent agreements, Settlement agreements, Assignment Agreement, and other property related documents.
- Working closely and effectively with business team and with senior management team to understand their needs and assist them in negotiating contracts with third parties.
- Providing legal support and day to day legal advice to internal stakeholders
- Ensuring compliances FSSAI, LMA and other statutory Compliances for the business.
- Ensure to abreast with laws related to IP, IB Code, RTI Act, commercial laws and amendments to existing laws from time to time.
Eligibility
Knowledge/ Education:
- A graduate with LLB/LLM background is a must
- 8+ years of experience post degree in law is necessary
