Details of the Job/Internship
UltraTech Cement is hiring for the position of Lead Litigation to Join their office in Mumbai.
Role and Responsibilities
- Participate in meetings with respective unit to understand the facts and dispute.
- To brief the lawyers/Solicitors the case with facts, applicable provisions of law.
- Discuss the strategy for the case, evaluate legal options in the interest of the Company.
- Liaise with lawyers for timely and speedy movement of the cases and arbitration.
- Study and facilitate the finalisation of plaints, replies, affidavit, documents for cases and arbitration.
- Attend courts in important cases, if required and arbitration proceedings.
- Keep the respective units involved in above actions.
- Train units and departments in handling of notices.
- The entries of the notices to be made regularly in Roznama and to be monitored.
- All the notices to be attended within the prescribed time limits, ensure that notices doesn’t result in to the legal cases.
- Periodically verify the reports relating to receipt of the notices and disposal of the same.
- Ensure that the team members of the assigned units are keeping the entry up-to-date.
- Ensure smooth implementation of digitization of legal case in Roznama.
- Regularly review the reports in the system and take necessary update.
- Coordinate and Provide training and necessary assistance for this purpose to the team at units.
- Train and provide necessary guidance and support to the unit team member for the use of Roznama.
- Prepare standard commercial and legal agreements, SoPs as per the requirement of the business and function head from time to time.
- Drat / review existing agreements / contracts being used at the unit / business and modify the same as per the changes in law and the requirement of the business.
- As and when required participate in negotiation of key business contracts to protect the interest of the Company.
- Validate documents and business deals for legal compliance.
- Evaluate and ensure due-diligence in legal aspect including leave and license, lease, purchase of immovable properties, etc.
- Implementation of documentation management through software / application.
- Advising units / business on the importance of performance of obligations and consequences of breach of contact.
- To keep self- updated with the changes in the law, rules and regulations which are directly having impact on the business e.g. mining laws, environment laws, land related laws etc.
- To advice on compliance related matters
- To update the latest pronouncement of the High Courts and Supreme Court.
- Analyse the judgment which may have impact on the business and prepare a note.
- Share other important judgment with team for knowledge sharing.
- To familiarize with various corporate transaction initiatives.
- To participate in legal due diligence.
- Drafting and reviewing various mandates.
- Be an effective interface with different agencies involved in the transaction.
- Participate in meetings for negotiation of documents.
- Contribute in preparing legal bulletin and news flash for sharing.
- Units needs advices on many legal matters.
- Annalise applicable provisions of law, research applicable judicial pronouncements.
- Prepare case for opinion and notes from time to time on cases and matters.
- Take external opinion, if required, with the help of seniors.
- Take initiative to update and maintain legal web-page in U-link.
- Prepare check list in advance for compliance audit.
- Identify default, if any, in compliance and report to senior.
- Take corrective action and ensure preventive measures to avoid repetition.
- Conduct follow up visit.

Eligibility
- Candidate with an LLB.
- 10-12 years of work experience.
- The ideal candidate should possess expertise in criminal and civil matters, stamp duty, writ petitions, special IP, and arbitration.
