Details of the Job/Internship
UltraTech Cement Ltd. is hiring for the position of Lead Litigation to join their office in Mumbai.
Role and Responsibilities
1. Litigation & Arbitration
- Develop strategies and evaluate cases to protect the company’s interests.
- Prepare and finalize petitions, plaints, appeals, affidavits, replies, and written submissions.
- Brief and liaise with external counsel, law firms, and senior advocates.
- Ensure timely filing and hearing management within prescribed timelines.
- Participate in arbitration proceedings, draft and review arbitration documents, and ensure compliance with notices.
- Regularly update and maintain case details in the Litigation Management Tool (Roznama).
2. Contract & Agreement Management
- Draft, review, and standardize commercial agreements, contracts, and SOPs.
- Negotiate key business contracts to safeguard company interests.
- Validate documents and transactions for legal compliance, including property-related due diligence.
- Advise business units on performance of obligations and risks of non-compliance.
- Implement documentation management systems for improved efficiency.
3. Compliance & Case Management
- Ensure strict compliance with laws, regulations, and company policies.
- Train unit teams to effectively use Roznama for case and notice management.
- Conduct periodic reviews, audits, and compliance checks at business units.
- Proactively address notices to avoid escalation into legal disputes.
- Monitor regulatory updates (mining, environmental, land, corporate, etc.) and assess their business impact.
4. Legal Advisory & Knowledge Management
- Provide timely legal advice on business and operational matters.
- Research and analyze judicial pronouncements and prepare legal notes.
- Share updates and key judgments with internal teams for knowledge enhancement.
- Contribute to legal bulletins, newsletters, and internal knowledge-sharing platforms.
5. Unit Support & Audits
- Conduct regular unit visits for legal case reviews, compliance audits, and documentation checks.
- Identify non-compliance, recommend corrective measures, and ensure follow-ups.
- Support senior management in commercial transactions, due diligence, negotiations, and legal structuring.
