Details of the Job/Internship

Presidency University is hiring a Legal Aid Advocate with 1–5 years of experience to join their Legal Aid Cell in Bengaluru. The role includes legal assistance, casework, community outreach, and student mentoring.

Role and Responsibilities

• Provide pro bono legal consultation through the Legal Aid Cell.
• Draft legal notices, petitions, applications, and other required documents.
• Assist in preparing and filing cases before appropriate forums.
• Coordinate with legal services authorities, NGOs, and partner organisations.
• Conduct legal awareness workshops, field visits, and community engagement programs.
• Develop accessible legal literacy materials.
• Mentor students in case analysis, drafting, client interviewing, and legal research.
• Supervise students during consultations, documentation, and outreach activities.
• Maintain records of cases, consultations, and community programs.
• Prepare periodic reports for the University and Legal Services Authority.
• Support the planning and execution of legal aid camps and special drives.

Eligibility

• Bachelor’s degree in Law (LL.B.); LL.M. is an advantage.
• Enrollment with the Bar Council and eligibility to practice.
• 1–5 years of experience in litigation, legal aid work, or community legal services; freshers with strong commitment may also apply.
• Strong drafting, research, and communication skills.
• Ability to mentor students and work with diverse communities.
• Passion for social justice, access to justice, and legal empowerment.

Salary/Stipend
