Details of the Job/Internship
Philip Morris International is looking for a candidate for the position of Patent Legal Analyst to join them their office in London.
Role and Responsibilities
- Organize, manage, and control patent process workstreams, including records and document management for patent application filing and prosecution.
- Collaborate with in-house attorneys, internal stakeholders, outside counsel, and external service providers concerning Patent Group processes and projects. Maintain related IT systems including case file management, docketing, and tracking patent processes and related deadlines, ensuring data accuracy.
- Search and extract relevant information from patent databases (PatBase) and public IP databases including Espacenet, USPTO Patent Center, and Patentscope.
- Prepare and manage patent formality documents (including Inventor Assignments, and Powers of Attorney).
- Support patent transactions and portfolio reviews as required.
- Support development, streamlining, and optimization of tasks and procedures to increase quality and efficiency.
- Support the invoicing process.
Eligibility
- Associate's Degree from an accredited college in the paralegal program or equivalent combination of relevant education and work experience required. 2 - 4 years of IP paralegal and administration experience.
- Knowledge of global patent systems (CIPA Patent Administrator's Certificate or equivalent qualification preferred).
- Ability to undertake occasional travel.
- Experience with working in a multicultural environment.
- Proficiency with Windows and MS Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, SharePoint, etc.).
- Experience with data visualization tools (Tableau, Power BI) is an advantage.
- Ability to prioritize work, solve problems and organize your own time. Must be able to work in a fast-paced environment, and appropriately handle confidential matters.
- Strong organizational and coordination skills and ability to prioritize assignments and work to tight deadlines.
- High attention to detail and ability to execute tasks with the highest accuracy.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment, as well as to work independently.
- Capability of seeing the bigger picture, embracing new processes and change.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English; additional languages advantageous.
- Ability to maintain excellent working relationships with business partners to ensure that their legal and business needs are satisfied.
