Details of the Job/Internship

PhonePe Insurance Broking Services (PIBS) is hiring an Associate Director – Legal and Regulatory (Insurance) with a minimum of 15 years of experience to join their office in Bengaluru. PIBS, registered with IRDAI since August 2021, partners with 32+ insurers and serves customers across 99% of pin codes.

Role and Responsibilities

• Advise business, operations, and technology teams on insurance products, processes, and systems.
• Draft and review contracts including partnerships, integrations, and audits.
• Handle legal cases, claims, and interactions with partner insurers.
• Research new product lines, penalties, and compliance requirements.
• Prepare, review, and file license applications and manage regulatory correspondence.
• Interact with regulators regarding applications, licenses, queries, and new regulations.
• Develop regulatory manuals and frameworks for inspections and compliance.
• Represent PIBS in forums, meetings, and consultations with IRDAI.
• Draft SOPs and legal frameworks to guide internal teams.
• Identify risk areas for the business and propose mitigations.
• Partner with business and external legal teams on new initiatives and negotiations.

Eligibility

• LL.B/LL.M with minimum 15 years of post-qualification experience.
• Major career experience in insurance companies or intermediaries.
• Open to working across all BFSI sectors.
• Preferably a mix of law firm and in-house counsel experience in financial services.
• Strong drafting, communication, and analytical skills.
• Knowledge of financial sector laws, corporate law, business laws, data privacy, and information security.
• Experience interacting with BFSI regulators.
• High professional ethics, integrity, and interpersonal skills.
