Details of the Job/Internship

FREED is hiring for the position of Legal Associate – Fintech and Regulatory with 1-2 years of experience to join their office in Gurugram.

Role and Responsibilities

Regulatory & Legal Advisory:

• Provide legal counsel on RBI guidelines, digital lending regulations, KYC/AML requirements, data privacy, the IT Act, and other financial laws impacting fintech operations.

Contract Management:

• Draft, review, and negotiate a wide range of commercial agreements including vendor contracts, NDAs, SLAs, and partnership agreements.

Product Compliance:

• Collaborate with product and operations teams to ensure compliance is embedded within the product lifecycle, especially in onboarding, payments, and user journeys.

Regulatory Monitoring & Research:

• Track and analyze updates from regulatory bodies (RBI, SEBI, NPCI, etc.) and translate them into clear, actionable insights for internal stakeholders.

External Coordination:

• Engage with regulatory authorities, legal counsel, and compliance consultants as needed to support business objectives and maintain legal compliance.

Policy Development:

• Assist in drafting and maintaining internal policies such as privacy policy, data governance, grievance redressal, terms of use, and other operational frameworks.

Eligibility

Education:

• LL.B. from a recognized Indian university.
• (Additional qualifications in fintech, data protection, or financial regulations are a plus.)

Experience:

• 1–2 years of post-qualification experience in fintech, financial services, or technology law.
• (Experience at a startup or law firm handling fintech clients is highly preferred.)

Technical Skills:

• Sound knowledge of RBI regulations, digital lending guidelines, and the IT Act.
• Proficiency in legal drafting and contract negotiation.
• Strong research and analytical abilities.

Salary/Stipend

Compensation details will be finalized during the interview process with the selected candidate.
