Details of the Job/Internship
Unimarks Legal Solutions is hiring for the position of Legal Associate with 1-3 years of experience to join their office in Chennai.
Role and Responsibilities
IP Advisory & Strategy:
- Provide legal counsel on the protection, enforcement, and commercialization of IP assets including trademarks, copyrights, patents, and designs.
- Assist clients in crafting tailored IP protection strategies aligned with their business goals.
- Advise on IP-related agreements including licensing, technology transfer, and joint ventures.
IP Filings & Portfolio Management:
- Manage filing and prosecution of trademarks, copyrights, and patent applications—domestically and internationally.
- Prepare and submit filings with appropriate IP offices, ensuring compliance and accuracy.
- Monitor deadlines and manage renewals and formalities for IP portfolios.
IP Litigation & Enforcement:
- Support senior attorneys in handling IP disputes including trademark and copyright infringement cases.
- Draft pleadings, cease-and-desist notices, responses, and related legal documents.
- Assist in oppositions, cancellations, and enforcement actions before IP tribunals and courts.
Legal Research & Analysis:
- Conduct detailed research on IP laws, case precedents, and emerging legal trends.
- Compile and present reports and legal analyses for both internal teams and clients.
- Advise on potential legal risks and strategies related to IP conflicts.
IP Audits & Due Diligence:
- Conduct IP due diligence for corporate transactions such as mergers and acquisitions.
- Analyze IP portfolios to assess compliance, value, and potential infringement risks.
- Contribute to internal and client-facing IP audits.
Client Management:
- Maintain clear and timely communication with clients on all IP matters.
- Translate complex legal issues into practical guidance tailored for clients.
- Foster and maintain strong client relationships through high-quality service.
Coordination with Authorities & External Partners:
- Liaise with trademark and patent offices, IP examiners, and relevant authorities.
- Coordinate with external experts, consultants, and investigators in IP-related cases.
Training & Knowledge Development:
- Assist in developing educational materials and sessions on IPR for clients and internal teams.
- Stay current with legal developments in IP law and participate in industry events, seminars, and workshops.
Eligibility
Education:
- Bachelor’s degree in Law (LL.B. or equivalent).
- LL.M. in Intellectual Property Law or certification in IPR (preferred).
Experience:
- 1 to 3 years of experience in handling IP matters within a law firm or corporate legal team.
License:
- Must be licensed to practice law in the relevant jurisdiction
