Details of the Job/Internship

Unilever is hiring a Legal Associate – Trademark to join the Global IP Legal team in Bangalore.

Role and Responsibilities

• Conduct trade mark clearance searches and analyse availability of proposed trade marks.
• Prepare instructions for external law firms for trade mark filings, prosecutions, and cost estimates.
• Collate evidence of use for trade mark renewals, oppositions, and cancellations.
• Monitor trade mark watch services and provide recommendations on potential infringements.
• Support enforcement, anti-counterfeiting, and grey market actions, including witness statements and evidence preparation.
• Draft and execute IP-related agreements, including copyright assignments.
• Manage ad-hoc trade mark requests, authorisation letters, and portfolio reporting.
• Assist with IP integration or divestiture in M&A activities.
• Manage domain name portfolio and ensure regular audits.
• Maintain and update Trade Mark precedent bank with templates, playbooks, and guidance.
• Prepare presentations and materials to educate business partners on IP matters.

Eligibility

• LL.B. required; LL.M. in Intellectual Property preferred.
• 2–4 years of experience in international trade mark portfolio management, including clearance searches, prosecution, renewals, and enforcement.
• Strong communication, drafting, and stakeholder management skills.
• Proficiency in trade mark and copyright laws, regulations, and practices.
• Analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail.
• Ability to work across multiple time zones and cultures.
• Experience in trade mark opposition/cancellation proceedings and IP agreements is preferable.
• Experience within consumer goods or FMCG environment is an advantage.
