Details of the Job/Internship
Unilever is inviting applications for the Legal Associate – Unilever Business Operations job at their Bengaluru office in India.
Where this position fits into the team:
- Part of the Unilever Legal Powerhouse – a team we’re currently building, which will consist of around 50 colleagues in Bangalore.
- An integral part of Unilever’s Legal Function - a global operation consisting of approximately 400 lawyers and specialists.
- Based alongside the Uni Ops Function in Bangalore – a wider team of 1,600 that powers Unilever’s compass strategy through world-class business operations enabled by technology and innovation.
- Work in close collaboration with the global Business Operations Legal (UBO) team.
Role and Responsibilities
Business Context and Main Purpose of the Job
The selected candidate will be dedicated to the UBO Legal team, which business partners with the UBO function.
UBO functions include Supply Chain, Procurement & Customer Operations and provide all the systems and processes for Unilever to run effectively, efficiently, and consistently across different Businesses Groups.
The UBO Legal team gets involved in a variety of supplier-related matters and as part of the extended team we are hiring a Powerhouse resource to manage the following activities:
- Drafting (bespoke) contracts and support negotiations with suppliers.
- Collecting information to investigate claims involving suppliers.
- Reviewing and analyzing initial contracts related to supplier disputes and claims, and assisting in drafting letters and settlement agreements.
- Conducting basic legal research and providing support.
- Creating structured documents with relevant facts.
- Assisting with supplier events and ensuring appropriate training and terms are established.
- Offering specialized contract support in collaboration with UBO Legal counsels for intercompany agreements, CRM, sustainability, etc.
- Extracting and summarizing contractual risks.
- Managing end-of-contract risks and termination activities.
Stakeholder Management: Support the development and management of stakeholder relationships within Unilever and with key third parties, including within Legal and Business Operations (which spans across Supply Chain, Procurement, IT, Supplier Operations and others).

Eligibility
Relevant Experience
- Professional qualification in Law.
- 2-4 years of experience in drafting contracts, contracts review and negotiations, from both a Legal and business perspective.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management.
Essential

- Strong English language drafting and legal advisory skills.
