Details of the Job/Internship

Aditya Birla Renewables is seeking a Legal Associate to join their Mumbai team with a specialized focus on Land and Project Finance. 

Role and Responsibilities

• Conduct comprehensive title due diligence for utility-scale solar and wind project sites across India.
• Identify legal encumbrances or land disputes and suggest corrective measures to ensure a "Clear Title."
• Draft and standardize land aggregation documents, including Agreements to Sell (ATS), GPAs, LOIs, and Title Deeds.
• Review complex financing documents such as Loan Agreements, Facility Agreements, and Deeds of Hypothecation.
• Coordinate closely with the Finance team and Lenders to ensure the timely execution of mortgage documents.
• Provide legal advice on "Security Creation" (mortgages/charges) in favor of project lenders.
• Resolve land-related disputes through negotiation, mediation, or by liaising with external litigation counsel.
• Maintain an organized repository of all land-related contracts, environmental permits, and project agreements.
• Stay updated on central and state-level land laws, renewable energy policies, and environmental regulations.

Eligibility

• Bachelor’s degree in Law (LL.B.) from a recognized institution.
• Relevant experience in Real Estate / Land Law, preferably with exposure to the Renewable Energy or Infrastructure sectors.
• Strong understanding of property laws, local land revenue codes, and security creation processes.
• Proven experience in drafting and reviewing high-stakes commercial and land-related agreements.
• Ability to coordinate with cross-functional teams (Finance, Land, Projects) and external legal consultants.
• Excellent negotiation and dispute-resolution skills.
