Agnikul Cosmos is a private aerospace company incubated at the Indian Institute of Technology Madras. The company develops rockets capable of launching satellites weighing up to 500 kg into Low Earth Orbit (LEO). In May 2024, Agnikul successfully completed its maiden launch from India’s first private launchpad. The mission validated several new technologies developed by the company. The achievement also received recognition from the Prime Minister of India.
Details of the Job/Internship
Agnikul Cosmos is hiring a Legal Associate with experience of 0–3 years to support its legal and regulatory functions.
Role and Responsibilities
- Support the company in identifying and complying with regulatory, licensing, and permit requirements related to aerospace and launch activities.
- Assist in monitoring and interpreting domestic and international regulations relevant to aerospace, space technology, and export controls.
- Conduct legal research on areas such as space law, satellite regulations, and international aerospace governance.
- Assist in drafting, reviewing, and negotiating commercial agreements including vendor contracts, NDAs, technology agreements, and service agreements.
- Support contract lifecycle management and maintain documentation for legal compliance.
- Coordinate with internal teams and external counsel on intellectual property filings such as patents, trademarks, and copyrights.
- Assist in monitoring potential intellectual property infringements and ensure compliance with organisational IP policies.
- Support the legal team in ensuring compliance with import and export regulations related to export-controlled technologies.
- Conduct research and assist with documentation related to international trade compliance requirements.
- Assist in preparing documentation, legal responses, and submissions for government agencies and regulatory authorities.
- Support engagement with regulatory bodies, industry forums, and relevant organisations where required.
- Conduct legal research and prepare internal memos, advisory notes, and compliance summaries on regulatory developments.
- Track evolving legal frameworks affecting the aerospace, defence, and space technology sectors.
Eligibility
- BA LL.B / BBA LL.B / LL.M or an equivalent law degree.
- 0–3 years of legal experience, including internships in law firms, corporate legal teams, or regulatory bodies.
- Exposure to contract law, intellectual property, corporate law, or regulatory compliance.
