Details of the Job/Internship
Azim Premji Foundation is hiring a Legal Associate with 5 years of experience to join their office in Bengaluru. The role involves drafting and negotiating complex agreements, ensuring statutory compliance, handling litigation, managing external legal counsel, and supporting the Foundation’s legal and secretarial functions.
Role and Responsibilities
- Draft, review, and negotiate various agreements, including high-value EPC contracts, service agreements, software licence agreements, and land purchase and lease agreements.
- Develop and implement standard contract templates and compliance checklists.
- Ensure compliance with labour statutes, including the Shops and Commercial Establishments Act, Provident Fund laws, Minimum Wages Act, and Contract Labour (Regulation and Abolition) Act.
- Research, interpret, and apply relevant statutes, regulations, and case laws to various aspects of the Foundation’s work.
- Handle litigation matters.
- Identify, engage, and manage relationships with external legal counsel for matters relating to intellectual property, taxation, Right to Information, and the Right to Education Act.
- Publish periodic MIS on legal and secretarial matters.
Eligibility
- LL.B. from a reputed law college.
- Minimum 5 years of generalist legal experience in a corporate legal department or a Tier I/II law firm, covering both legal and secretarial aspects.
- Exceptionally strong drafting skills with mastery over the English language.
- Good knowledge of contract and property law.
- Excellent legal research and writing skills.
- Reasonable understanding of commercial matters.
- High self-drive and confidence.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
- Strong thinking, reasoning, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to handle multiple tasks under strict timelines.
- High standards of professional ethics and integrity.
