Details of the Job/Internship
Gehi & Associates is hiring a Legal Associate with experience in US immigration laws to join their remote team in Ecuador. The role requires full-time availability from Monday to Saturday, working 6:00 AM to 3:00 PM EST. The position involves handling immigration and related matters, drafting legal documents, communicating with clients, and supporting internal attorneys.
Role and Responsibilities
- Draft forms and affidavits and communicate regularly with USCIS.
- Handle Family-based petitions, Bankruptcy, Divorce, Immigration, VAWA, and Asylum cases.
- Provide advice on matters related to Family-based petitions, Bankruptcy, Divorce, Immigration, VAWA, and Asylum.
- Explain available legal options and possible consequences to clients.
- Address client concerns regarding deportation and termination.
- Communicate with clients to understand their legal needs.
- Write case notes and reports.
- Prepare forms and complete case packets.
- Prepare clients for interviews.
- Attend daily team meetings.
- Audit court and firm calendars.
- Perform additional duties within the scope of the role as required.
Eligibility
- Minimum 3 years of litigation experience.
- Experience in immigration cases is an advantage.
- Strong analytical, research, and writing skills.
- Excellent communication skills.
- Legal document preparation skills.
- Attention to detail and strong organisational abilities.
- Ability to work independently and in a team.
- LLB and must be called to the Bar.
Salary/Stipend
Compensation details will be finalized during the interview process with the selected candidate.
