Details of the Job/Internship
Green Gem Energy is hiring a Legal Associate to join their office in Coimbatore. The role will support renewable energy projects across Tamil Nadu, including Kanchipuram, Tirunelveli, and other project locations. This is a hands-on in-house position focused on land acquisition, legal due diligence, agreement drafting, and regulatory compliance. The role involves extensive coordination with internal teams, external advocates, vendors, and power consumers, along with regular travel to project sites and government offices.
Role and Responsibilities
- Conduct end-to-end land acquisition due diligence, including title verification, chain of documents, encumbrance checks, patta/EC/Chitta verification, and land tracing.
- Provide clear legal opinions on land title, ownership risks, and acquisition feasibility.
- Liaise with surveyors, village administrative offices, and revenue departments.
- Draft, review, and negotiate land-related agreements such as sale deeds, lease deeds, POA, and MoUs.
- Draft and review vendor and consultant agreements, including EPC agreements.
- Draft and review power consumer agreements, including PPA-related and group captive documentation.
- Draft and review commercial and operational contracts.
- Ensure agreements align with applicable laws, business requirements, and risk mitigation standards.
- Provide day-to-day legal advisory to internal teams on operational and commercial matters.
- Ensure compliance with statutory, regulatory, and contractual obligations.
- Support captive/group captive structuring and documentation where required.
- Coordinate with external advocates for registrations, opinions, litigation, and follow-ups.
- Track legal timelines, filings, registrations, and documentation status.
- Support litigation management, if any, through external counsel.
- Travel frequently to Kanchipuram, Tirunelveli, and other project locations.
- Visit sub-registrar offices, courts, revenue offices, and project sites as required.
Eligibility
- Strong experience in contract drafting, legal documentation, and due diligence.
- Sound knowledge of land/real estate laws, commercial laws, and contract law.
- Ability to independently handle land acquisition and legal verification.
- Fluency in Tamil and English (spoken and written).
- Practical, detail-oriented, and capable of working independently with minimal supervision.
- Willingness to travel extensively across Tamil Nadu.
Salary/Stipend
