Jan Sahas, established in the year 2000, is a not for profit grassroots organisation committed to promote the
development and protect the rights of socially excluded communities with a special focus on girls and women through the eradication of all forms of bondage including manual scavenging and caste-based prostitution; empowerment of adolescent girls and women to end violence and gender justice, skill development for dignified livelihoods and social entrepreneurship; legal aid for access to justice and reform in the criminal justice system; support in education; food and nutrition, security; land and agriculture development; develop barefoot lawyers to build victim or survivors as leader and empowerment of communities through capacity and organisation building.
Details of the Job/Internship
Jan Sahas is hiring a legal associate to join them in Dewas office.
Role and Responsibilities
- Monitoring and evaluation of panel lawyers and LIF fellows for the response activities in legal cases in coordination with the program team for better performance and implementation of the program.
- Conduct sociolegal research and assist in developing relevant legal content, modules, and knowledge materials as per the requirement.
- Providing training on laws related to gender-based violence and other relevant laws as per the need and the requirement.
- Regular submission of reports for internal and external purposes.
- Participate in organizational development programs, workshops, training sessions, and other activities at various locations.
- Any work in furtherance of the objective of the Prevention of Violence, Lawyers’ Initiative Forum, and JanSahas work.
Eligibility
- A 3 or 5-year LL.B. degree from a university recognized by the Bar Council of India.
- Prior relevant experience of 2 years will be prioritized. However, exceptional candidates may also be considered for the position.
- Candidates having experience in research and training or having experience handling cases of district/high court will be considered.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English and Hindi
- Knowledge of the subject of gender, violence associated with gender, and its related aspects is preferred.
- Ability to quickly adapt to the diversity, culture, and ethos of the organization.
- Capacity to produce reports and prepare graphic presentations
- ● A self-starter who will thrive in a growing organization by taking ownership and initiative
- ● Good interpersonal and articulation skills.
Salary/Stipend
