Details of the Job/Internship

Pirgal Consulting is hiring for the position of Legal Associate with 0-1 years of experience to join their office in Bengaluru. 

Role and Responsibilities

Primary – Income Tax Litigation

• Draft replies to income tax notices under Sections 139(9), 143(1), 143(2), 148, 154, 271, and related provisions.
• Prepare statements of facts, grounds of appeal, and other documents for proceedings before CIT(A) and ITAT.
• Support and brief senior counsel for writ petitions before the Karnataka High Court.
• Independently handle scrutiny and reassessment proceedings, penalty orders, and refund-related matters.

Primary – Legal Research

• Conduct in-depth research on complex provisions of the Income Tax Act, 1961.
• Interpret and analyze CBDT circulars, instructions, notifications, and judicial precedents.
• Maintain a legal research repository to support litigation and advisory work.

Secondary – Advisory & Team Support

• Draft commercial contracts, NDAs, undertakings, and internal compliance documents.
• Guide interns and junior team members on tax law procedures and case preparation.
• Contribute to the development of SOPs, internal checklists, and litigation templates.

Eligibility

• Qualification: LL.B or B.Com + LL.B.
• Experience: 0–1 year in direct tax litigation and legal research.

Skills:

• Strong command over legal drafting, interpretation, and statutory analysis.
• Clear and concise written communication.
• Proactive, detail-oriented, and courtroom-ready mindset.
• Ability to work independently while also collaborating with a small, focused team.
