Details of the Job/Internship
Pirgal Consulting is hiring a Legal Associate with experience of 1+ years to join their office in Bengaluru. The role focuses on GST advisory, compliance, and legal research. The position involves handling GST registrations, filings, reconciliations, advisory opinions, and departmental representations while supporting work with legal research and statutory analysis.
Role and Responsibilities
- Handle GST registrations, amendments, cancellations, and related procedural compliances.
- Prepare and review GST returns including GSTR-1, GSTR-3B, annual returns, and reconciliations.
- Draft replies to GST notices, intimation letters, and clarification requests.
- Assist clients with input tax credit reconciliations, refund applications, and compliance reviews.
- Conduct GST impact assessments and provide advisory opinions on classification, valuation, place of supply, and exemptions.
- Conduct legal research on provisions of the CGST Act, SGST Acts, IGST Act, and relevant rules.
- Analyse CBIC circulars, notifications, advance rulings, and judicial precedents to support advisory positions.
- Prepare structured legal notes and technical opinions for internal and client reference.
- Maintain and update the firm’s GST knowledge repository and compliance trackers.
- Vet commercial agreements from a GST and indirect tax perspective.
- Draft internal compliance checklists, SOPs, and process documentation.
- Guide interns and junior team members on GST procedures and documentation standards.
- Assist in internal audits and risk assessment exercises.
Eligibility
- LLB or B.Com + LLB with 1+ years of experience in GST advisory, compliance, and legal research.
- Strong understanding of the indirect tax framework and procedural compliance.
- Excellent drafting and statutory interpretation skills.
- Detail-oriented with strong analytical and reconciliation abilities.
- Independent and proactive with the ability to coordinate with clients.
- Team-oriented with the ability to mentor junior team members.
