Details of the Job/Internship
Seven Islands Shipping Ltd. is hiring for the position of Legal Associate with 2 years of experience to join their office in Mumbai.
Role and Responsibilities
I. Litigation Management
- Assist in handling civil, criminal, and arbitration matters involving the Company and its group entities.
- Draft, vet, and ensure timely filing of pleadings and legal submissions before courts, tribunals, and authorities.
- Maintain and regularly circulate litigation MIS and updates to relevant stakeholders.
II. Non-Litigation Advisory
- Draft, review, and negotiate a wide range of legal documents, including:
- Commercial Agreements, MoUs, Lease Deeds, Trust Deeds, Letters of Intent
- Service Level Agreements, IT Contracts, Marketing, Admin & Outsourcing Agreements
- NDAs, Power of Attorneys, and vendor-related documentation
- Policies and procedures for the Maritime Training Institute
- Conduct preliminary due diligence, including title searches for property-related transactions (purchase, sale, lease, acquisition).
- Assist in the execution, registration, and legal formalities related to property transfers.
- Apply for Intellectual Property Rights on behalf of the Company.
- Conduct legal research on applicable laws, circulars, policies, and judgments.
III. Maritime Law Support
- Assist in preparing applications to MMD (Mercantile Marine Department) for vessel registration matters.
- Support transactional documentation for vessel sale/purchase, import/export, and compliance with maritime laws.
Eligibility
- Educational Qualification: Bachelor of Laws (LLB) from a recognized institution.
- Experience: Minimum 2 years of relevant legal experience, preferably with exposure to litigation, contract law, property law, and maritime matters.
